PERFECT YOURSELF
"Don't wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect." Unknown
This is my first post on my first blog. I have been writing ever since I was 4 year old. I have always wanted to help people grow. I try to grow – every day in every way. My father used to teach me that one can never stop perfecting him/herself because once you become better than other people, you can still get better – but only if you are competing with yourself. You can always try to be better today than you were yesterday. That is how you grow every day in every way. You should never stop bettering yourself – I should never stop perfecting myself. No, I am not perfect, neither are you nor we should ever believe we must be perfect. There is no place for perfection here, but there is a lot of place to grow. This is why I am writing for you here. I will help you grow, but I will need you to help me grow as well. Let’s grow together!
About perfection and perfecting yourself
The definition of perfection is that it is the condition, state, or quality of being free from all flaws or defects but upgrades are required to make it usable. (Webster’s dictionary)
To perfect yourself means to make yourself as good as you can be. It does not neccessarily mean that you must become perfect, but that you need to aim to become better with time, to have progress in what you do and who you are. Being perfect must not be an imperative. Psychology knows that perfectionism leads to anxiety, so we do not set perfection as a criterion for anything. We are allowed to make mistakes and be imperfect, but we should not give up on progress in what we do and who we are. Each person has problems and space to grow. Growing as a person, as a human, as a professional is very pleasurable and no one should give up on him/herself. Everyone can change and become better. Each step is valuable. Each progress is valuable, no matter how small it is.
Questions to ask yourself if you want to grow today
Today I will help you grow your self-awareness. As I am psychologist, here are questions I love to ask my clients:
- Write down 10 the most beautiful moments of your life.
- Write down 10 potentially the most traumatic events of your life.
- Describe your 10 greatest accomplishments.
- Who are 10 key people who support you?
- If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would you do?
Now take a good look at your 4 lists and relate them to your answer on 5th question. How did beautiful and not so beautiful moments of your life bring you here? What have you achieved by now that you can use related to the 5th answer. How can 10 supporting people help you achieving what you want?!
NOW!
What can you do in the next 24 hours to achieve what you want? What will you do now to grow?
Please, let me know what you think and where you stand! I would love to hear you!
